Co-Founder & Safari Specialist
Growing up on a 10,000-acre ranch in northern British Columbia brought wilderness and wildlife literally to the back door. It was, however, due to a family heritage of pioneers and travelers, including a great aunt who explored southern Africa and took the train to Victoria Falls in the 1930’s, that most shaped Louise’s world view and lead her to share a journey of 35 years with Richard as her husband and business partner.
Leaving Mountain Travel*Sobek in the mid-90’s after 17 years, Louise focussed on building Next Adventure and exploring her interest in poetry, comparative literature and creative writing at Mills College in Oakland. Today she still reads fiction and poetry avidly while keeping up with the day-to-day operations at our Berkeley office and frequently traveling throughout Africa and beyond. Recent trips include trekking in Ladakh in Northern India, tracking rhino on foot in Zimbabwe and canoeing on the Zambesi River as well as boating and kayaking in the Pacific Northwest.
Five generations of women in Louise’s family have been drawn to Africa already; grand-daughter Rainier was just a toddler in May of 2011 on her very first wildlife safari in South Africa! Please join us in traveling to this very special part of the world!
