Family Trip in Rwanda Filled with Great Apes and Monkeys
Overview
Repeat travelers with Next Adventure, this family of 4 adults wanted us to plan a short trip that focused solely on the country of Rwanda and its prolific populations of great apes and monkeys.
Inspired by the notion of exploring Rwanda for more than just the country’s well-known appeals, we composed an itinerary that did not concentrate on big game wildlife viewing but rather primate treks and afternoon forest walks.
The family had a staging night in Kigali upon arrival, followed by a morning flight to Kamembe and a drive to Nyungwe National Park. During their 3 nights, they enjoyed a Canopy Walk above the tree tops of the Nyungwe Forest, both Chimpanzee and Black & White Colobus Monkey treks, and afternoon forest and birding walks.
Next they enjoyed 3 nights in Volcanoes National Park where they got to experience two Gorilla treks sojourned by a Golden Monkey trek and a coffee tour. This family had one final night in Kigali that included a City Tour and Genocide museum visit, completing a full circuit of the country of Rwanda.
