Pat and Charley’s Birthday Safari

Maybe our favorite thing is receiving detailed trip reports from our clients after they’ve returned from their custom safari, and this might be the best one yet. Pat and Charley celebrated his birthday on a safari that took them through Botswana’s Okavango Delta, Selous Canoe Trail and Kalahari Desert. We’ll let Pat tell you all about it:

Hi Kili, we had the most amazing trip, thanks to you and Louise. It was a dream come true, and Charley loved EVERY camp, even though he initially had concerns they would be too “fancy” (as I had expressed, he’s a real low-key guy).

He said many times that he was so impressed how you had responded to our discussions and came up with such a perfect itinerary. We loved the diversity of the locations, from the desert to the woodland and waterways.

Of course he loved the canoe trip best, as did I. It was a wonderful end to the journey and I’m glad the sequence worked out as it did.

Actually our least favorite was Vic Falls, though the hotel was beautiful, it just brought back the reality of tourists!

The birthday surprises at each camp was unbelievable. At first Charley kept blaming me for squealing but I had no idea how they knew. By the third camp I finally put it together! You are so sweet!
The birthday cake on the canoe trail was over the top! We loved Josh and instantly connected. An amazing guide! He spoke highly of you.

The Wilderness Safari people were so helpful, transitioning us smoothly through the various locations. I think we would have been lost without them.

Everyone we met at the camps, staff and guests, were special and we made several friends we’ll surely keep in touch with. We were the only guests at Kalahari so we really had a unique opportunity, spending lots of time with the staff, listening to their stories, something that I’m sure would not happen if other guests were there.

And we saw so much wildlife, only missed out on the rhino.
We watched cheetahs stalk an impala, leopards savoring their kill up on a tree limb, lions in a mating dance, painted dogs protecting their den of new babies. Our hearts pumped adrenaline facing 40+ elephants and later 25 hippos on the canoe trail. And of course we enjoyed every delicious meal and delightful sundowner.

I could go on and on. Perfect, perfect, perfect. THANK YOU!

Still sorting through photos but will share when done.
With love and appreciation, Pat and Charley

Wow! And that’s why we love our job. It was such an honor to put together this trip, and we so appreciate hearing that everything went so well.
