Let us show you our Lesotho…

Day 1: Underberg – Sani Pass

Start the day with a 07h30 collection from Underberg and depart on an exhilarating trip up Sani Pass stopping frequently for photo opportunities of the spectacular scenery. Cross the Lesotho border post, entering what is known as “the Roof of Africa”. Valid Passports are essential and certain nationalities will require Visas. From here travel deep into the mountains for an exclusive experience with a Basotho community including a reading by a traditional healer, private dancing, bread making and crafts. This country has the highest and lowest point in the world and only 20% of the population live in these remote Highlands.

Drive across the Roof of Africa enjoying the breath-taking views and pass the Let’seng Diamond Mine, where some of the largest diamonds in the world have been discovered. Next head on to the Liphofung Bushman Paintings to appreciate ancient rock art and enjoy a packed lunch overlooking the expansive views from the caves.  Check in at the Oxbow Lodge.

Overnight Oxbow Lodge on a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast Basis.

Day 2: Moteng Pass – Tsehlanyane National Park

After breakfast and check out, wind down the corkscrew-like Moteng Pass – a definite tick off your bucket list. Stop at the Liphofung Rock Art paintings which can be seen covering the walls of a large overhang made from Clarens sandstone, typical of the Lesotho lowlands.

From here drive through to Tsehlanyane National Park where you watch as the incredible vistas turn to the lush Lesotho Lowlands. Check in at the Maliba Mountain Lodge. The remainder of the day can be spent hiking, horse riding or walking to the mountain pools. A spa is also available should guests want to pamper themselves (own cost).

Overnight at Maliba Mountain Lodge on a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast Basis.

Day 3: Tsehlanyane National Park – Clarens

After a wholesome early breakfast drive towards Leribe and to the Mohair Weaving Project. Here you will be able to learn about the pioneers of spinning and weaving in Lesotho as well as experience how the weaving process starts.

Next stop, view the 200-million-year-old dinosaur footprints embedded in a remote undeveloped riverbed. For those wanting to be slightly more active hike to a plateau to see the Lesothosaurus footprints on the ceiling, whilst they are still visible. Enjoy a nutritious packed lunch while admiring the surrounding mountains.

Exit Lesotho through the sandstone mountains to the quaint little arts and crafts town of Clarens. Your rental car or transfer will be waiting for you at this point. (Rental cars will have been personally delivered.)
