The Zambezi River Valley is simply one of the most picturesque and dramatic regions in the world: an incredibly wild and remote area where the mighty Zambezi River meanders between two national parks, Lower Zambezi on the Zambia side and Mana Pools on the Zimbabwe side.

The river is the only source of water for large elephant and buffalo herds, and it is home to an impressive range of predators including lion, leopard, wild dog, hyena, serval and African wild cat. And, of course, you can expect to see rafts of hippopotamus, basking crocodile, and a wonderful array of aquatic birds.

In terms of activities, you can do it all. It is an ideal environment for walking safaris, canoeing, boating, fishing and game drives with some of the most talented and sought-after guides in the business.

On both sides of the Zambezi, we have a wide range of camp and lodge styles from adventurous fly camping to traditional tented camps to romantic suites under canvas, and this area is easy to combine with Victoria Falls, Cape Town or a host of other safari destinations.

Here is a small selection of our favorite safari camps along the Zambezi:

Tembo Plains incorporates Zimbabwean stone work and classic canvas to deliver the ultimate luxury: an intimate camp in an uncrowded wilderness with unrivaled hospitality.

Set in land from the river's edge, enchanting Kanga Camp is known for an "armchair safari" experience as wildlife comes from miles to visit a vital waterhole right in front of camp.

Chula Island Camp is a simple mobile camp that offers the ultimate immersive safari experience with nothing but a mosquito net between you and the spectacular African wilderness.

One of the original camps in the area, Sausage Tree Camp continues to WOW its guests with a breezy romantic style, personal plunge pools and excellent private guiding.
